Anna Guðrún Jónsdóttir, soprano, was born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland. She earned her Masters degree, and a Post Graduate diploma in vocal performance from the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp, Belgium, and graduated from there with greatest distinction in 2021.
During her studies, Anna Guðrún has participated in numerous productions as a soloist, or as an ensemble member. She has performed the roles of Rita from Donizetti's Rita, and Lauretta and Zita in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, as well as parts of other roles, such as Fiordiligi from Mozart's Così fan tutte, Agathe from Weber's Der Freischütz and Contessa from Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Her latest performance was Donna Elvira from Mozart's Don Giovanni. Anna Guðrún was also part of the Dramatic Voices Berlin program in the summer of 2021, where she studied the role of Chrysothemis from Richard Strauss's Elektra. Anna Guðrún has also performed in concerts in Canada, as a part of the Neil Semer Vocal Institute.
Anna Guðrún's mentors through her studies have been Susanne Shimmack, Jeanne-Minette Cilliers, Gary Jankowski, Lucienne Van Deyck, Auður Gunnarsdóttir and Anna Júlíana Sveinsdóttir.
In march 2023, Anna Guðrún performed her first professional concert in Iceland after her studies. The performance was a part of new concert series, Ljóðið Lifi and was performed in Hannesarholt in Reykjavík.
In her free-time, Anna Guðrún enjoys knitting, reading and drinking a cup of quality coffee in a group of good friends. She also makes sure to visit her home country on regular basis and tries to use her time there to catch up with family and friends, hike mountains and take in what Icelandic nature has to offer each time.
